Zona Común, the pilot-exchange anchorage off La Plata in the River Plate, is where most of Argentina’s bunker deliveries take place: barges from YPF, Raízen, Minerva and World Fuel Services supply vessels waiting to go up river or sailing out. It is also where a bunker quantity survey matters most, because the vessel is at anchor, the barge comes alongside for a few hours and nobody re-checks the figures afterwards.
UPRIVER Marine attends Zona Común by launch from Buenos Aires or La Plata, day and night, on behalf of charterers, traders and owners. In 2026 it is our busiest station: 71 attendances up to September, most of them bunker quantity surveys for COFCO, Viking, Fertimport and Pytsa.
