BROB and bunker quantity surveys at Santos

Santos is the largest port in Latin America and the main bunkering point on the Brazilian coast: Petrobras and the independent suppliers deliver VLSFO and LSMGO by barge while the vessel is loading at the grain, sugar or container terminals. Because the bunkering happens at berth during cargo operations, the survey has to be organised around the loading and the barge’s window.

Santos is our busiest Brazilian station: 32 attendances in 2026 up to September, 24 of them BROB + BQS, mostly for COFCO and Petro Inspect. Our Brazil team, led from São Paulo state, covers Santos, Paranaguá, Rio de Janeiro and the northern ports.

How we work here

BROB: soundings of all bunker tanks before the barge is alongside, compared with the log book, so the quantity received is not disputed later.
Barge soundings before and after, temperature and density, BDN reconciliation, sample sealing and Letter of Protest if the difference exceeds tolerance.
Report the same day in English, with photos, to the charterer's bunker desk.
